Since 1991, the city of Vicenza has been twinned with the German city of Pforzheim and since 1995 with the French city of Annecy.
The city of Vicenza has signed a friendship agreement with the American city of Cleveland in 2010 and with the Croatian town of Osijek in 2011. In 2018 Vicenza signed a memorandum of understanding and mutual cooperation with the Chinese town of Guiyang. In 2018 Vicenza subscribed a brotherhood agreement with the town of Bethlehem. In 2022 signed a friendship agreement with the Municipality of Stari Grad - Belgrade (Serbia) and in 2023 signed a cooperation and understanding agreement with the Ukrainian city of Zythomyr.
The activity between Vicenza and the twin cities of Annecy and Pforzheim is carried out through initiatives aimed at strengthening citizens' awareness and participation in the idea of twinning as a widely embraced and experienced grassroots institution, particularly within the broader concept of European citizenship.
International relationships primarily involve cultural exchanges such as musical and theatrical performances, exhibitions, concerts, artistic activities, folklore, sports, and recreational activities, as well as exchanges between schools, crafts, commerce, environment, social, regulatory, and institutional exchanges.
However, the idea of “twinning” is even wider, and it can also be related to cultural, social and economic relations and partnership, including cities outside the European Union, through the stipulation of friendship and fraternity agreements.
The International Relations and Twinning Office provides information on twin cities, and offers assistance for cultural or economic trips organized by institutions, organizations, groups or schools; it promotes, coordinates and organizes directly or in collaboration with other subjects, activities in different spheres of interests; it works in collaboration with other cities interested, according to their peculiarity or expertise, to twinning activities. It oversees every aspect of the planning, technical, organizational aspects of the scheduled activities.

How to do it
Requests and proposals for collaboration, initiatives, or exchange activities within the framework of twinning should be submitted to the International Relations and Twinning Office of the city of Vicenza and evaluated with the foreign partners. If accepted, they will be included in the activity program.
