Bike Sharing (english)

Aggiornato al: 29/11/2022

Bike-sharing represents the ideal solution for medium-to-short itineraries, lending strong impulse to the so-called “inter-modality” and offering to the public a practical and fast service, in line with the needs of people moving around in the urban area.

Vicenza launches the bike sharing service through RIDEMOVI Spa, the first Italian company that is the European leader in micro-mobility.

From September 2021, 400 exemplars have been introduced between e-bikes and muscle bikes. Available 24 hours a day in various areas of the city, they aim to incentivise an urban, smart and sustainable mobility.

How does it work

To use the service, you must download the RideMovi App free of charge from Apple Store or Google Play and register (you must be of legal age and possess a credit or debit card), creating your own account with a virtual wallet inside it.

Through the App, besides consulting the map you can also locate the nearest bicycle and parking lot.

1. Once you have reached the bike, scan the QR code and start the ride.

2. After reaching your destination, park the e-Bike in one of the designated areas shown on the map, following the app instructions, and upload a photo as requested.

3. Finish the ride via the App by clicking on End Ride.

Characteristics of the e-Bikes

The performance of the new RideMovi e-Bike is extremely brilliant, and the several patented innovations turn it into a higher quality assisted pedalling bicycle.

  • Compact design.

  • Highly technological features: GPS and IoT (Internet of Things) technology.

  • 70 km autonomy of use.

  • Smart and powerful engine with a maximum speed of 25 km/h.

  • Integrated torque sensor that compensates up to 95% of the effort required to pedal.

  • Mobile phone support.

Characteristics of the Bikes

The traditional bicycle has been fitted with technologies already anticipated on its electric “sister”. The back wheel manual lock has in fact been eliminated, and the bike is comfortably locked through an app. Likewise integrated is the mobile phone support allowing users to navigate and reach destination easily.

The GPS tracking allows the manager to know the position of each bike and take steps to recover it in the event of theft or unlawful collection.

There is also a service operating on the road in charge of managing breakdowns, vandalism, ordinary bike maintenance, fleet control and rebalancing of bikes, at the end of the day, depending on user movements.

Where to find bicycles

To ensure an efficient and orderly service, all the city centre bicycle stands are parking points (marked by P on the app). In the city, there are also some strategic locations where the e-bikes and (traditional) bikes will be repositioned at the end of the day.

The RideMovi application allows users to easily identify, by perusing the map:

  • available e-bikes and (muscle) bikes

  • dedicated parking lots

  • operating area

Bikes are allowed to circulate throughout the municipal territory, but there are some differences with regard to parking methods:

-inside the city centre, the block occurs only in the areas highlighted on the map by the P icon, which correspond to the positions of the bicycle stands located in the city; this is done to ensure an efficient and orderly service.

-in the remainder of the municipal territory, users will be able to take the bikes, use them and lave them wherever they like, in free floating mode, without necessarily having to place them back in the special stands; however, there is a 30 cent bonus if they are redelivered to the parking points indicated by the P icon.

There are also no Parking areas (for instance, parks that close at night) in which the block cannot take place, whereupon a penalty of EUR 10 will be applied.

Rates and operating area

Rates are as follows:

EUR 0.25 per minute for e-bikes;

EUR 1.00 every 20 minutes for bikes.

There are subscriptions and discounted packages for consumption by minutes, which can be purchased directly from the My Wallet page on the app.

The minute packages can be used in all the cities where the RideMovi service is present, so that users can benefit from eBike both in Vicenza and in other cities offering the RideMovi service.
